Originally designed for the Blaze Type Specimen No.1, Spinner Gothic is a bold yet elegant typeface that weaves influences from a diverse range of typographic legacies.
What started as a revival of the circular engraving “Confœderatio Helvetica” found on the CHF 5.— Swiss Coin; Spinner Gothic shifted towards a looser interpretation, embracing a fusion of styles, with elegance and modernity at its core.
Drawing inspiration from printing craftsmanship and iconic American Gothic fonts of the early 20th century, Spinner Gothic exudes a timeless and classical charm, with the blackness of German Grotesk lettering. In tribute the designer’s mothers maiden name ‘Spinner’, evoking association with textile spinning and woven fabric.
Composed of 9 weights, matching italics, with over 800 glyphs per font and plenty of OpenType features, Spinner Gothic is highly versatile for a wide range of design applications. Honouring the legacy of print media and metallic stamping, this typeface family adjusts perfectly to the requirements of the digital realm. With its rich heritage and remarkable adaptability, Spinner Gothic stands as a tribute to enduring design principles and contemporary versatility.
